Smith Files For District 48 Senate Seat

Smith Moves Forward in District 48 Senate Race

Candidate for '24 Election

El Paso, Texas

After months of speculation, at 8 AM this morning, local businesswoman and community leader, Mary M. Smith, filed the necessary paperwork to officially become a candidate for the Texas State Senate District 48 seat in the 2024 election.

Smith, a lifelong resident of El Paso, is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a degree in Business Administration. She has over 20 years of experience as a business owner and has been actively involved in the community, serving on the boards of several local organizations.

In a statement released after filing, Smith said, "I am running for the State Senate because I believe that we need a strong and experienced leader to represent our community in Austin. I have the skills and experience necessary to get the job done."

Smith is a strong advocate for education, healthcare, and economic development. She believes that every child deserves a quality education, that everyone should have access to affordable healthcare, and that we need to create more jobs and opportunities in our community.

Smith is facing an uphill battle in the Democratic primary. The incumbent, Senator José Rodríguez, is a popular figure in the district and has a strong base of support. However, Smith is a well-respected and qualified candidate, and she is confident that she can win the election.

The primary election will be held on March 6, 2024. The general election will be held on November 5, 2024.
