Yager's hockey career began at a young age, and he quickly showed a natural talent for the game. He honed his skills in his hometown before joining the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League (WHL) in the 2022-23 season. In his first year with the Warriors, Yager made an immediate impact, scoring 15 goals and adding 23 assists in 59 games.
